After nearly a years worth of work, I proudly submit a combination of my original photography, digital painting and compositing.
The initial idea was to put a few artists, perhaps five or six, that I have worked with over the years into a composite in a live concert setting. Well, five or six turned into 10, then 25, then 42 and now, finally, 57 musicians creating my All Star Jam. Of the 57 artists shown, only seven of them I shot full length, all others were shot tight, either as a head shot, or just below their particular instrument. Everything below their instruments I had to digitally paint in.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT: My life-long love affair with sports and music and been the subject of most of my personal creative work. My first professional piece was a pen and ink drawing of the Minnesota Twins' Rod Carew for a feature in Jet Magazine in 1978. I was a classically trained illustrator and painter long before software was developed for artists. As the digital age gained strength, my commercial graphic design had me working with Corel Draw in 1987, then Photoshop's version 1.0 back in 1990. I have worked in Photoshop ever since as it continues to be my favorite digital tool.
