As a resident of Nashvile, TN, I created this fun t-shirt design for Nashville fans after the Stanley Cup finals. I'm paying homage to a great Nashville tradition of tossing a local catfish on to the ice at Bridgestone Arena. Fans and local media in Pittsburgh whined when a Predators fan and his well-hidden catfish found its way onto the ice at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh during Game 1.
Although the fan was arrested and was charged with disorderly conduct, disrupting a meeting and possessing "instruments of a crime" all charges were later dropped.Pittsburgh may have declared catfish as “instruments of crime,” but the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation wasn’t buying it.
“We’ve seen a lot of ‘instruments of crime’ over the years. Can’t honestly say we’ve seen a case with one of these [catfish],” tweeted the TBI.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT: My life-long love affair with sports and music and been the subject of most of my personal creative work. My first professional piece was a pen and ink drawing of the Minnesota Twins' Rod Carew for a feature in Jet Magazine in 1978. I was a classically trained illustrator and painter long before software was developed for artists. As the digital age gained strength, my commercial graphic design had me working with Corel Draw in 1987, then Photoshop's version 1.0 back in 1990. I have worked in Photoshop ever since as it continues to be my favorite digital tool.
